Favour is not fair! And often, the one receiving the favour knows this more than anyone else!
It is a strange feeling to be advanced ahead of better qualified & more intensely committed people!
It’s not a sense of achievement, but of “receivement” – as Bishop Oyedepo puts it!
Sometimes, being in the place of honour looks like being out of place! And the reason is because you know you more than anyone else does!
But then…. it is the father that gave you the coat of many colours & he really doesn’t take permission from anyone to do so & often doesn’t explain his criteria for his choices!
So…. “Wear your coat ‘waka’ enter street!”
“Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age: and he made him a coat of many colours.” “And when his brethren saw that their father loved him more than all his brethren, they hated him, and could not speak peaceably unto him.” – Gen 37:3-4
But then…. if you really want to walk in the favour of God, you must also expect the envy of man & that includes, your “brethren”!
Envy makes friends do amazing things like…. adding their “butt” to every good story about you!
”Wow, that’s great…. but!”
Envy will make some even try to remove your coat of many colours & sell you off to slavery!
But then, you can’t keep a good man down – coat or no coat!
And…. somehow, every act of sabotage against a man with the favour of God ultimately turns into another opportunity for his lifting!
The people who sell you today will come for you to sell to them tomorrow!
Question: How do you handle envy?
#1. Focus on your gratitude to God & not on the honour of men!
#2. Know your ‘struggles’ enough not to be arrogant!
#3. Value yourself enough not to notice put-downs!
#4. Celebrate people even when they refuse to celebrate you!
#5. Excuse yourself from the midst of toxic people!
#6. Trust God with the seasons when envy attacks seem to win!
#7. Keep producing results & let your presents works be your testimonial that God made the right call!
